Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:11PM Ten races have now been completed. Remember the points look a bit weird because the club uses a highpoint scoring system for this series. The person with the most points wins. The races T1-T4 are separated from T5-T11 because the handicaps changed for a few skippers after the A Series. We will be making some more small changes to the handicaps based on the results of the B Series.
Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 03:53AM There are only two more scheduled races for the Club Champs. Really only the Laser class is already decided with Duncan White winning five out of five so far. Given we sail both the scheduled races there will be six scoring races i.e. you drop your single worst race result.
Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 03:33AM The final two races of the series were held today. The wind Gods seemed to notice the boats rigging at 1230hr and a westerly of sorts sprung up just in time for the start of racing. Both its strength and direction were quite variable but it was always enough to keep the boats moving along.
Results were close in most of the fleets. The winners were: 3.7 - Jonathan McMullan, Laser - El Commodore, Zephyr - Roger Walker, Starling -Toni Dewar, P Class - Jason Hewitt, Optimist - Brodie Maxwell. Have a look at the P Class results with Jason and Annie finishing the series on equal points, and with matching race results i.e. 3 firsts, a third and a fourth each. Why isn't it a draw?

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 04:20AM Four races have now been completed in the B Series. The results are extremely close in most of the fleets so the handicaps are working well. I have included a link to the results so far below. Of course everything could change with B5 and B6. As long as we get two races in next Saturday each sailor gets to discard their worst race result from the series.
Luckily the wind filled in enough to make the second race of on the 11th February a club champs race. I will get the results of the champs up to CC6 up on the website soon. Remember the champs have no handicaps so the results will look different to the A and the B Series.
Rob Ebert put in a bit of extra training after the last race and while attempting to execute a smooth gybe he locked his tiller extension into the Zimmer frame and rolled into an elegant capsize. Clearly 'Dorsal Fin' material. Apparently the water quality is still acceptable. There were also two blood bin retirements - the aptly named Ralph Skinner and John S A Elliott (Static Agility).
Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 12:40AM Light winds from anywhere in the west kept the sailors busy. No lap was like the previous one. It was good to see a couple of Opti Green sailors out on the race course with Sara Pairaudeau showing real staying power completing both races. Results below.
(Remember that these races are scored using skippers personal handicaps to adjust the times).
For those keen to work out a puzzle, have a look at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place Zephyrs. They all ended up with 6 points but different places. Do you know how ties are separated using standard low point scoring?
